How to Transfer a Domain to SkyeFlare — Step by Step
Why Transfer Your Domain to SkyeFlare?
Managing your domain and hosting in one place makes life simpler. When both are at SkyeFlare, you can update DNS instantly, renew together, and get unified support for any issues. Domain transfers also usually renew the domain for 1 free year.
Before You Transfer — Checklist
- ✅ Domain must be at least 60 days old (ICANN rule)
- ✅ Domain must not have been transferred in the last 60 days
- ✅ Domain must not be expired
- ✅ Admin email on WHOIS must be accessible (transfer approval sent there)
- ✅ Domain must be unlocked at current registrar
Step 1 — Unlock Your Domain
Login to your current registrar (Namecheap, GoDaddy, PKNIC, etc.). Find your domain settings and look for Domain Lock or Registrar Lock. Turn it OFF. This is required before any transfer can begin.
Step 2 — Get Your EPP / Auth Code
The EPP code (also called Auth Code or Transfer Code) is a password that authorises the transfer. Find it in your registrar's domain settings — usually under Transfer Out or Get Auth Code. It's sent to your domain's admin email.
Step 3 — Start Transfer at SkyeFlare
- Login to SkyeFlare dashboard
- Go to Domains → Register Domain → Transfer tab
- Enter your domain name
- Enter the EPP / Auth code
- Complete payment (domain transfer fee)
- Check your email for a transfer approval request
- Click approve in the email
Step 4 — Wait for Transfer to Complete
Domain transfers typically take 5–7 days to complete. You'll receive email updates at each stage. During the transfer, your website stays live — nothing goes down.
Step 5 — Update Your Nameservers
Once the transfer completes, update your nameservers to SkyeFlare's:
ns1.skyeflare.comns2.skyeflare.com
This connects your domain to SkyeFlare's hosting servers. DNS propagates in 1–24 hours.
Troubleshooting Common Transfer Issues
- Transfer rejected: Domain is still locked at old registrar — unlock it first
- Wrong EPP code: Request a new one from current registrar
- No approval email: Check spam folder; or update WHOIS admin email to one you can access
- Transfer stuck: Contact SkyeFlare support — we'll follow up with the registry
Move your domain to SkyeFlare and manage everything in one place.
